I think my news story to Bill last week got lost in the ether, but Warning Order #45 is now available. There are all kinds of battle reports, reviews, two new Engagements scenarios, and the usual features. You can download the issue with this link: PDF link

All of the issues are available here on this page: wfhgs.com/wrngorder.html

Thanks. Always a good read.

Q: Looking thru back issues, I cannot find Engagements #9 and #10. Did I miss them somewhere? Thanks.

Shogun, yes I think I screwed up there! I meant to renumber the latest ones and explain it or go back and rework the PDF that had the missing numbers. My fault and it's on the "to do" list.

Such a great read. Puts the professional mags in the shade

Good job!

From the editorial:

I just find it interesting why gamers make the choices that they do in terms of time, commitment, and how much interest they have in a particular era. It used to be that many gamers would own a copy of a game that was to be played, invested time in reading the rules, then you could sit down and not have to explain every last detail. Today, one player usually owns the game, teaches others, you have a fun two hours, then everyone goes back to their other games. It is a weird dynamic right now, but light or "Euro" wargames seem to be the current trend.

Very, very true. Then again, back when I started wargaming in the 70s, Avalon Hill only came out with two or maybe three games a year. It was SPI that ratcheted up the count with a game every other month in S&T, never mind the standalone games. Then came GDW…and D&D…and then miniatures…all nicely spaced. Now, we've many a game or rules or minis, with high production values, coming out per month.

Real or perceived, it seemed I had "more" time, or perhaps, fewer obligations so that I could sit down and spend time solo gaming the latest wargame. Before, weekends were for gaming. Now, it's easier for me to game on a weeknight, where you get only a couple hours.
