Danish Wars 1657-1660

is the second from the series of expansions for By Fire and Sword: Battles. Armies. Commanders.

It has 88 pages (soft cover) and includes 4 special miniatures available only with this book:

Rigsmark Anders Eriksen Bille – Danish commander-in-chief in 1657

General Jψrgen Bjelke – commander of the Norwegian army from 1658

Captain Svend Poulsen – famous commander of Danish snapphanar partisans

and Generalkrigskommisarie – Danish military commissar

In addition we'll add miniature of Danish Ensign for each order placed by the 12th of April

Description of the army of the Kingdom of Denmark and Norway forms the main part of the supplement. Thanks to an extensive historical introduction the readers will learn more about the Danish-Norwegian military history as well as about the causes of the conflict.

However what is most interesting for players are the new rules. We are sure that the supplement will fulfill your expectations.

The Danes and Norwegians have 6 skirmish forces, 9 regiments and 7 divisions as well as 7 historical commanders which makes them one of the most expanded armies in "By Fire and Sword".

The book also holds additional materials for Denmark's enemies – the Swedes. These include both elite veterans of Carl X Gustav that attacked Denmark in 1657 as well as their opposite in terms of training and experience – that is the Swedish territorial defense forces.

The supplement also includes organizational structures and descriptions of forces of the anti-Swedish alliance: the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth (led by the famous Czarniecki's division), Brandenburg, the Holy Roman Empire and the Netherlands.

Can this be pre-ordered through the offical vendors carrying your stock – or only through your polish website?

Of course it can be ordered through official vendors (apart from mug and bundles – they are available only via our webstore)

Do the Danes get a cool infantry heavy skirmish force and what would I need to buy to field it? I saw the skirmish set has a lot of reiter but I'm half way through 3 regiments of Swedish reiters and am sick of horses.

I'll preorder from Wayland or Battlefield Hobbies when they add it to their website. Or if I'm going to have to do lots of horses anyway I might just go for the cooler Poles instead.

And an unrelated question. Can I use acrylic paint on your rubber roads? I got some and would like to add a bit more colour but I'm not sure how to paint it.

I'm not sure what is cool for you but check link I've placed in the first post (you can have up to the 9 bases of infantry). If you don't want to buy boxed skirmish set I would recommend to buy 3 blisters of Danish infantry, 2-3 blisters of snapphanar and 4 blisters of Polish partisans (to use them as Danish partisans). It should be enough infantry for all Danish skirmishes.

Regarding roads I'm not sure – need to check it tomorrow.

Cool was just something I threw in there. I was thinking of infantry heavy like the Imperial Outpost or Slutsk Garrison. A Danish skirmish force that along those lines and can reach ~8+ FSP is what I'd be looking for.

The Local Defense Force you linked is a bit more cavalry than I'd like.

Does the book have any information about the danish-norwegian uniforms of that era?

Nope, as – let's be frank – information about it is more than scarce :)

Sorry for a late reply. You can pain them with acrylic but you rather shouldn't bend them as pain will possibly burst.
