As there is no dedicated TY forum I figured this was a good place.
Thought I would share some pics of my West Germans. They are done in a desert scheme. I found a found a picture of a Marder and thought, well TY is a 'what if' game so I decided to do my whole force in the same scheme rather than the standard NATO Europe scheme.

Hope you enjoy and comments good, bad or ugly always welcome. Oh and ther are no infantry as I couldnt find any available to purchase….. still looking.

Gorgeous figures, but my West German history's a bit poor; did they/would they have deployed abroad to a desert country?

The camouflage is brilliant, did you use a spray gun for some of this?

Hi Tf, thx. As I said at the start of my post. TY is a what if game, so I applied painters licence. 😊

Please tell us what airbrush you use and your cockpit glass technique? Your work is extraordinary.

Hi Defender,

I use an Aztec A470 made by Testors. The needle is inside a small nozzle that screw into the front of the airbrush. The fine and medium nozzles are my go to for just about all including 28mm Horses. Two pics below both horses were done with this brush. I have put a link below to the Aztec site for you. Note the A470 is a double action with a paint flow control so you can also use it as a single action.

Defender,

My glass technique is very simple.

I apply a 4 colour shade from Darkest to lightest working from the most shaded areas to the high point. In this case I take the light source as being straight up above and forward 45 degrees from the cockpit. Its a helicopter so not too many twist, turns or loop the loops.

I then mix a blue wash with water 50/50, over all of ithe glass area, twice. Then after the completed work and the aircraft is matt varnished, i go back with a semi gloss and paint over the glass with a brush.

Hope this helps and was clear enough.

Cheers,

Scott
