Those were always some of my favorite games. It would be nice to see an updated version with stronger Chinese forces. And they are still on my shelf, sadly not opened for years… I need to dust them off and have a look at them again. |

I had 6th Fleet and after breaking it open, looking over the rules and counters and doing some quick math (so there is some unreliability here), came the conclusion that amassing the largest flotilla made you practically invincible. My mind at the time did not really recognize the limitations of effectiveness and power-projection that would be lost by maintaining a combined flotilla. I fantasized about planning out and executing an amphib landing, then wargaming the landing itself in 6mm, with some smaller skirmishers in 28mm that would affect the success of the landing and turn back into something that affects back up to the main game. Turning a 20hr game into an entire week/month long campaign. |
