Excellent link, Khusrau!

Might make for a fun wargames scenario though.

Well in that spirit Gibraltar has a garrison of one battalion which has an artillery troop, probably 105s.

The Gibraltar Regiment has one regular company and two TA ones.

I'd have thought it's a swine to attack from land given there's only one road in…not sure what Spanish sea lift capability is like.

It would be impossible to reinforce though as all the squaddies and a fair number of their officers, would disappear to the bars and clubs of Costa Del Sol.

The Gibraltar Regiment has ties with the Moroccan military as they help train them… for anyone wishing to extend the scenario to Ceuta and Mellila…

The Spanish have two LPDs (assuming they don't feel like using the road) each capable of landing 600 men, which would probably be enough….

Given the size of the place, probably easy enough to do the whole ting in 6mm… :)

Please, guys, could you be so kind to put a little bit of good sense in your "saber-rattling" clique? They are becoming somewhat annoying with their threats of war.

Sometimes I despair at the irresponsability of politicians. I would have expected they were more level-headed. They are making a problem from a non-issue: NONE IS TRYING TO STEAL THEIR TOYS, DAMM IT! So, please, stop talking nonsense. It is not funny.

I'm being tongue in cheek…

But will stop.

In the Brexit Divorce, Who Takes Custody of Little Gibraltar?

"Breaking up is hard to do, especially when it's the uncoupling of the European Union and the United Kingdom. But while most of the "who gets what" division of property has been easy so far (you keep the haggis, we'll keep the Champagne), there is one particular nugget that is starting to raise hackles: The Rock, also known as the British Overseas Territory of Gibraltar.

The U.K. has had territorial control over Gibraltar, which sits off the southwestern coast of Spain at the strategic entrance of the Mediterranean, since 1713. Britons have essentially been fighting with the European continent about its status for at least that long. More recently, the Spanish government threatened to impose border-crossing fees and control airspace to try to rein in those who live and pay taxes on the British island but work in Spain. Gibraltar dropped 70 massive blocks of concrete in prime Spanish fishing waters nearby as retaliation.

Since Prime Minister Theresa May pulled the trigger on Brexit last week, it has become increasingly clear that Gibraltar and its population of 30,000 is seen by Europe as a negotiating point, and the U.K. suddenly is waxing nostalgic for the days when Britannia ruled the waves…"
