I finally completed the Princess' life guard for my Imagi-Nation of Saxe Burlap und Schleswig Beerstein. The base figure is the Surens Madame Foures Bellote which is a female figure riding ala hussar. It took me four years in between other projects. I converted each figure, adding to the saddle cloth, and placing each figure on a reinforced horse leaping forward on its backlegs as in a charge. I made scratch built dolmans and plumes from body putty and put swords in their hands. The best part though is the musicians. I converted a kettle drummer from home built materials, added on a bugler (made the bugle myself, and have a one-man (or girl) horse band, with a large drum on her back, and a keyboard on the left, with a large four racked "jingling johnny" of cowbells (all made from basswood and wire and even modeled the Swan filials to the standard and he top of the jingling johnny. The paint job is white over all, even white gloss boots and horse furnishings and leather, and a pink top half to the mirliton. All of this edged in silver. The musicians of xcourse have reversed colors. The colonel is riding side saddle. The mounted jingling johnny is on a rearing unicorn I had from an old project.
Looks great. My only regret is I didn't make two more musicians, one with a zither and the other with a water-glass organ.
The unit is a "parade unit" it has no combat value, but it will appear on every game.
My next project is Frederick William's Giant Grenadiers. No one makes them.
Sorry no pictures, if you want you can go to my society of Daisy site and look them up there if you wish.
I also finished half of my regimental guns for the army. Each is a baby howitzer, in the mythology of the game, used to celebrate the princess' birthday by shooting off fireworks. Each has no combat value either, but in the mythology of the game it is a point of competition and pride of the regimental commanders to have the most ornate and exotic "gala" uniforms, which range from Ancient Amazons, to svelte horse artillery with sausage roll helmets, Manchu infantry, Zulus, Medieval knights and gunners, jannisaries, and pirate girls (also Surens.) It's kind of like the Mummers day parade run riot.
The howitzers are dinky little things, and again are meant jus for firing off salutes and star shells.
