Looking to raise about 100 Imperial Guard but trying to cut down on the cost. Any good proxies out there for less $$$ but still have a good '40kImperial' look? |

I had always imagined doing 28mm moderns as IG. That way they can cross into regular modern games… Tripod Ma-Duece as Autocannon or HvyBolter. TOW or Stinger as Missile Launcher. Mortar as… Mortar. Radioman as… Radioman You'd only need a small handful that would not be able to crossover (if you field powerswords or powerfists) meltas and plasma… proxy the M16/203. I've almost convinced myself again… |

I'd haunt eBay and get the real thing. There are plenty of cheaper options out there – Irregular's 'Bug Hunt' troopers @ £72.00 GBP for their 100-man army pack is about the cheapest I can think of. Mantic's "Deadzone" and Warlord's "Beyond the Gates of Antares" ranges are worth a look to see if there's anything close enough for you. eM-4 miniatures have plastic 'security troopers' which are not too far away from Cadians -they also do conversion packs to make command figures and Heavy weapon troops (although I don't see the HW conversion pack currently listed) BUT: If the 40k look is important to you, get the real thing. Otherwise it's always going to bother you that they don't look 'right'. (Edited to add: if time isn't an issue – Warlord are rolling out the former 'Wargames Factory' sets. Their 'Shock Troopers' were near-as-dammit Steel Legion/Death Corps proxies. |

Not a huge variety, but: link And Copplestone Castings has neo-Soviets, and jungle troopers: link If you can find them, there's the Shockforce line by Demonblade Games. The line was sold off, but I don't know who has them now. Pictures here: link Kind of depends on which look you want, too. IG are supposed to be raised from thousands of worlds, you've got choices: desert, jungle, urban, etc. |
Insomniac | 27 Mar 2017 11:09 p.m. PST |
Theses are cheap and would work (with a little conversion): link These are also very cheap: link This boxed set has 80 plastic troops in (40 of each faction): auction Also found here: link |

Isn't the good thing about the imperial guard that there isn't a standard look every planet sends PDF regiments to meet their tithe requirements so each regiment's looks are tied to the native style of their home planet plus a lasgun. As such you can let your imagination run pretty wild and proxy allsorts of human miniatures. I have found companies that offer specific 40k proxy miniatures end up charging GW style pricing to boot. |

I have 100 cadians, a command squad (inc metal minis) and 9 hvy weapons teams available (some are painted to a basic standard – not by me). I was looking at £150.00 GBP all in, but can be haggled. ;-) |

Isn't the good thing about the imperial guard that there isn't a standard look Indeed. And the fiction backs that up in their descriptions. Once you add some aquila and a few commissars, everything starts to look more grimdark. :) |

I'd buy the deal above from from aBHs. If not that, the old Warzone boxed set plastics that insomniac listed are a great deal. |
