Hi all,

Just getting started and have a couple questions. Do you ever have need for more than 10 order dice per side? Is Litko the best source for the templates? Thank you for your time.

Psssst. You don't need the dice at all. Just use poker chips, beads or whatever you have laying around.

But specialized dice-tokens are the coolest part of the game!

I started with 2 sets of order dice. There are 12 dice in each pack. I've exceeded 12 units a couple of times. It's a slight advantage to have more dice (1 per unit) than your opponent as that gives you a better chance to draw your die at the start.
At 500 hundred points, 12 order dice per side should be OK. At 750 points, I'm usually going in with 13 or 14 units.
The game also has a system for using normal dice; you just need two different colors.
A 1 is FIRE, a 2 is ADVANCE, etc (or something like that. It's in the book at the beginning.
You only need 4 templates: 1, 2, 3, 4 inches. I use shell craters. On the smaller one, the inside is 1", outside is 2"
the larger one being 3" and 4".
Good gaming!

Printing your own templates works fine. Having access to a laminator helps though.

As for the dice, I don't find 12 to be enough, but there's an interesting bit about this in the new rule book. It suggests taking as many units as you want, but only having the 12 dice in the bag. This way, only 12 units get activated each turn, and you have to put a bit more thought into which troops you want to activate.

We mostly play with more unis than dice, there again we do mostly play with companies rather than platoons.
