Hi, was digging through old boxes and found, my old 28mm ACW, (these are all Redoubt) have a brigade a side and got re-inspired to continue the project. However to get it moving again I was wondering if I could get away with buying Perry troops. To be clear these would not be mixed into the existing brigade but would be self contained, would this work or would it look odd. cheers jon |

I use both Perry Metal and Plastic with Redoubt. If not in the same unit they work OK. If you are keeping the Regiments in their own Brigades, even better. The size is different (Redoubt are a little bigger) but varies between groups of castings from Redoubt, not alarmingly but some are fractionally larger just depends. For example the Iron Brigade aren't quite the same stature as the Zouaves. That said, newer Perry plastics are bigger than their original boxes, with the exception of their Zouaves which are around the same. Their metal range however is consistent as far as I know and Foundry stuff fits with them as the Perry boys did the sculptures. |

Yes agree to all the above comments, don't forget Foundry original infantry to mix in the Perry miniatures, I'd go with Perry plastics for the Cavalry though (biggish and cheaper option than all the others except Redoubt) still Redoubt in their own units are just beautiful to look at. Wishful thinking they'd ever come out in plastic, those armies are becoming heavy to move about now. Happy gaming, what rules Ciaphas? |

Thanks, for the insights, started out with Regimental Fire and Fury, moved to Johnny Reb II, which is why I think I require a second brigade. Was costing up the new brigades and Redoubt while not overly expensive by the unit becomes so, when doubling up to cover both sides and then multiplied by say 5 regiments of approx. 20 figures, add in 2 or 3 guns aside it quickly becomes a fair investment. Perry I was thinking, plus an additional command sprue is approximately half the price, admittedly plastic opposed to metal. If I was only doing 1 side I would finish the project with Redoubt. jon |
