Can't recall exaclty the context but I believe I was watching someone painting on Youtube and he mentioned using "Gnome oil" -- which appeared to be black wash with very good separation, the pigments really fell into the nooks and crannies without making the model look too dirty. I had a bottle of Poly-S "oily black" that had a similar consistency, back in the mid 1980s, but I haven't seen Poly-S in a store forever and have since moved on to cheapo craft paints. But seeing the gnome oil in action made me remember how much it sped up painting.
So did I dream up "gnome oil" or is that a thing? Googling "gnome oil" with or without "paint" or "painting" has been useless.
TIA

Nuln Oil is a GW product that is pretty famous.

Thanks! That makes a lot more sense.
The amount of oil you can realistically squeeze out of a gnome is not enough to paint more than a few minis anyway.

I gather you didn't mean this then?

Product Description

Gnomes

Gnomes live in the Mother Earth and represent Her nurture. We call upon their presence to assist us when we are lost, when our respect for Home abandons us, when we lack fulfillment, when our choice has become unrewarding, when we are lonely and when we think of failure.

Your Gnome will come to your presence from the North, to assist you in rebirthing your recognition of fulfillment, realizing and respecting your Home, harvesting your Work and finding a harmony with your World.

Gnome Oil can attract others, enLighten you to your possibilities, awaken your talent to accomplish, rejuvenate your deepest desires and Lighten your heartmind.

The loamy comfort of sweet Patchouli is mixed with the fertility of Vetivert for attraction, draw and confidence. Completion is added to the blend with the founding qualities of Myrrh.

I take it that Gnome Oil isn't made from Gnomes then?

Wait. So does that mean that baby oil and baby back ribs don't come from real babies then? ;)

Speaking of Nuln Oil, Army Painter has a range of washes called Quickshade Inks (in the eye droppers, not the tin) meant as a less expensive replacement: link

No replacements for babies, I'm afraid. :D
