If I add a single 88 to a Sturm Company and now you do not add the command team, it is a single team. According to the rules each turn you need to roll unit last stand because it is not in good spirits, being a single gun. Is the single 88 considered the leader of the unit so that roll is not necessary. Can anyone please clarify this. I believe I saw on a demo game on youtube by battlefront where a single 88 left (out of a unit of two) had to make this roll and I did not see an 88 command team on the table. |

It has to take a loss before it can be "Poor Spirits." So its a single team unit that will just be there until destroyed, but it will count as a destroyed unit. |

VonBurge, this is where some of the confusion for me lies. According to what is said on pg 60 it is not in good spirits because it has less than 2 gun teams. I'm guessing the "or" is throwing me on this one. Looking at the "In Good Spirits" or statement and thinking like a programmer: f or t = t (not in good spirits). |

If you only start out with one team you don't make in good spirits check. Otherwise, a lot of HQ units with one tank would be taking checks right at the start of the battle. |

Yeah, that sums it up. The "or" only kicks in if the first part is no longer applicable. So if your unit only starts with a single unit then it won't ever get to the "or" because it has to take a loss or a bail for the "or" to apply. Now if you had say a single team Tiger unit and it has bailed.. now the or kicks in and your unit isn't in good spirits any more. Suffering a loss kills the unit. |

Night Witch, an HQ unit never takes a last unit standing roll. |

(Sorry the book I'm referring to is the 1939-41 and 1944-45) Tgunner I'm not reading it that way because it has an "if" so I'm looking at it as an if statement and that if either statement equates to false then the unit requires a last unit standing roll. I guess I'm just being pedantic. My bg is in publishing and programming and the way it is stated does not make it clear to me, a good copy editor would have picked that out for better clarification. It does not say this is the first test and it only applies till a unit is destroyed or bailed out. it reads test for either condition because of the or. if (not(condition 1) or not(condition 2)) = true then do this not if condition 1 do this else condition 2 do this |

Read a couple of threads on the FOW forums and the consensus is as you guys say. Me I'll play it that way but hope they change the wording in an addendum. Sent the text off to a few colleagues (programmers and copy editors) to see what they think of the wording and what they expect the outcome to be. I guess I'm about to abuse the rules by not fielding any 2 team units, especially of guns and tanks. Single stands have a better chance of staying on the table. Thanks everyone for your insights and thoughts on this. Next up the new in command rule. I see it creating mobs and parking lots, especially for russian players. |
