Would any of the Essex MID codes for knights be appropriate for the Normans at Hastings?

I don't think so. You need the NA line I believe.

For the earliest codes, what makes them inappropriate?

Dn Jackson Supporting Member of TMP13 Mar 2017 3:33 a.m. PST

Most have the wrong shields or helmets. MID3A might work, but the shield might be too small and has no boss, it looks like his lower legs/feet are armored, and he's carrying a full size lance.

Just my opinion other people might think differently.

I agree with Dn Jackson.
Of the other mounted, the lance is generally a much later type, let alone the armour and shields.

The NA range is far more suitable and IMHO the figures are better anyway.
There is variation in the poses available for the mounted – the Bretons work too. I think there are about 3 poses each for NA9 and NA11.
