Hi everyone. This is an attempt to represent the Italian Allies during the III and II century BC – I suppose that they closely looked like roman Hastati, with maybe less uniformity in their tunics and equipment. I am certainly not a specialist of this period, so any comment concerning accuracy is highly welcome (and other comments too :)). Once again a great job! Thanks for the continued posting of your works. Have you looked at Hat's set of Italian Allies? Lots of good figures for the Southern Italian regions. Sometimes they fought with the Romans as allies but often against whenever a foreign invader like Pyrrhus or Hannibal promised them autonomy. |

Hi Davbenbak, thanks for your comment ! Yes, I have this set, and I began to paint some of them as Samnites, particularly the Legio Linteata. One future post :) |

There are a few representations of men with scuta in muscle-cuirasses and Montefortino helmets without plumes that I think may be Italian allies. I suspect that at least some Italian groups may have standardised on this sort of style after allying with Rome. |
