Established in 1559, the Africa were one of the senior regiments of infantry in the Bourbon infantry at the start of the Peninsular War. The Regiment would be in the thick of the early fighting at Baylen and having a detachment at the Second Siege of Saragossa, before the third battalion suffered the major defeat at Ucles in 1809

Nice paint job. Always good to see another Spanish unit. But are you sure about the flag? Four red stripes on a yellow background looks more like Aragon than Africa? But if you think I'm being pedantic, just ignore me, that unit will look wonderful on the tabletop! |

Thanks Keith. You are welcome to be pedantic and well spotted. I decided to use one of GMB's generic Sencillas, because they are really nice to look at at this scale. I would think twice if it was 28mm but in the heat of battle with 2,500 18mm figures going at it I want these chaps to look their best. So yes a little artistic licence on my part. |
