I am looking for a supplier of 1:600 scale merchant ship models.
Detail is not that important, as is the type but a mix would be nice.

Nothing on the market that I know of, WWII or otherwise, plastic pewter or resin, and my eyes are always open. I generally make my own for any era.

PT Dockyard sells a few.

Skytrex, now sold thru H&R also has some.

Scratch-building is the cheapest, and probably quickest option.

There's a 1/600th scale LST too, but they're hard to find, and OOP.

Mako, you are correct – thanks for that. I totally forgot about H&R and PT Dockyard, and I even posted on a thread about H&R back in May 15. Sorry John.

H&R….Aaaargh! No pictures, no shipping info on their website.

One is available from Microform Models, an architectural model supply company. Under their scale system, 1:50" is the range for 1/600 in our speak.

Shapeways probably has some too.

I almost did as well.

Shipping from H&R is expensive, IIRC, unless they've changed. Used to run 40% of the purchase price.

Thanks guys.

H&R look like the best bet for off the shelf miniatures.

Mako11:
I would try to scratch build but have serious time limitations so I am afraid that route is a no go.

Ack! Click! Close Browser! Switch thought process to Aztecs or something!

Merships are pretty easy. Scratchbuild them. Start with an image like this.

The PT Dockyard merchant ships are fairly small. David mostly has stuck to coastal merchants suitable to small ship action. He does have a 1,200 ton merchant. He keeps shipping very cheap.

Thanks for the plug!

My 1200 ton is about 5-6"

Near term plans are to do a British collier in the next few months after reading a book on coastal convoys.

If you are looking for big, try some of the 1/700 Japanese merchants by Hasegawa, Tamiya, Aoshima, etc.
