BTW…I know the guy who contributed all of the OBs for the MWSB! Kinda of a jerk, sometimes, but all in all, a good egg!

Another vote for "The Mahdists Wars Sourcebooks" and "Go Strong Into the Desert." There are a lot of great books available for the campaigns in the Sudan. A sampling from my book shelves:
"History of the Sudan Campaign, 1884-1885," Colville.
"The River War," Churchill.
"Desert Warfare," Burleigh.
"The Downfall of the Dervishes," Bennett.
"Fuzzy Wuzzy," Robson.
"Beyond the Reach of Empire," Snook.
"Bones in the Nile," Ertur (novel).
"Warfare in the Sudan," Asquith.
"The Last Charge," Brighton.
"Sudan: The Reconquest Reappraised," Spiers.
"Khartoum: The Ultimate Imperial Adventure," Asher.
"The Khartoum Campaign," Burleigh.
"The Battle of Tofrek," Galloway.
"A Good Dusting," Keown-Boyd.
"War on the Nile," Barthorp.
"The Road to Khartoum," Trench.
"Dervish," Warner.
"Suakin, 1885," Gambier-Parry.
"Karari," Zulfo.
"England's Pride," Symons.
"Omdurman," Ziegler.
"The Mahdiya," Theobald.
"The Egyptian Campaign, 1882, and The Mahdists Campaigns, Sudan, 1884-1898," Royle.
"Osman Digna," Jackson.
"The Mahdists State in the Sudan," Holt.
"Fighting the Fuzzy Wuzzy," De Cosson.
"With Kitchener to Khartoum," Stevens.
"Prisoners of the Mahdi," Farwell.
"Omdurman 1898: The Eyewitnesses Speak," Harrington and Sharf.
"Fire and Sword in the Sudan," Slatin.
"Towards Khartoum- The Story of the Soudan War of 1896," Atteridge.
"General Gordon's Khartoum Journals."
"The River Column," Brackenbury.
"Khartoum, 1885," Featherstone.
"Gordon of Khartoum," Johnson (a 'historical what-if' story).
"The Dash to Khartoum," Henry (a 'boys-own' novel)
"The Triumph of the Sun," Smith (novel).
"The Four Feathers," Mason (novel.
"Khartoum," Cailou (novel).
"The Siege of Khartoum," Wilcox (novel).
"Warfare in the Sudan 1884-1898," Asquith.
"From Korti to Khartoum," Wilson.
"Never to Be Taken Alive," MacGregor-Hastie.
Not a complete list by any means. There are also other books on the Sudan and Queen Victoria's 'enemies' in the Osprey series, many biographies of Wingate, Gordon, Wolsey, Hunter, Kitchener, and many others.

Great list, Wayne.

I think I own 90% of those titles.

There's so many more books on Victorian Colonial warfare that include chapters on the Sudan campaigns, like a couple of Donald Featherstone's books. I'm hoping to soon add a complete original set of "Cassell's History of the War in Soudan" to my reading list. It all depends on whether or not I can convince She Who Must Be Obeyed. I've been quite bad recently in buying some wonderful terrain additions to my Sudan campaigns. "But it's HISTORY, sweetheart, not 'simply' wargaming." wink

Her response is likely to be, "You should've bought it before you retired, lunkhead." grin
