Hi
For those interested AW miniatures has started a new kickstarter.

Ronin and maybe if stretch goal is reached peasants.

Personally I really hope for the peasants…. Just need them:) the old black hat miniatures really need some better sculpts. I really enjoyed the palaquen realeased lately and I will for sure support this to be able to lay my hands on some og the special figures other companies do not make.

Hello! A friend of mine pointed out TMP so I thought I'd see if anyone has some suggestions for a new miniature gamer.

I am starting to try Team Yankee and I was wondering if there were any suggestions on starting out? Should I just get one of those boxes such as Bannon's Boys and Potecknov's Bears or is there a better "starter kit" purchase?

I did not crosspost this…

The TY starter boxes are a better value than getting the models piecemeal. If you want to do West Germans or British they have starter sets too.

But these starter boxes are tank-heavy. If you prefer running mech infantry/motor rifle companies or battalions you'll have to build them up with individual transport box sets and infantry packs.

You might also want to figure out hat force you are building. there are several other manufacturers out there for Cold war kit, especially soviet. Old Glory, Battle Honors and QRF are some. Some will get you discounts if your order is large enough (or the Old Glory Army card will get a better deal). I can feild several forces (with options) and only some infantry is BF

NWS wargaming store is one of my favorite online shops and it looks like they are now carrying TY stuff:

NWS has the best prices that I've ever found on the Perry plastic figures too, $22.99 USD a box!

Welcome to the hobby Spike. I hope that you find it enjoyable.

Hi Spike (nice username, love Cowboy Bebop)! You bumped into the notorious TMP Bug(tm), it strikes when two people manage to post at or near the same time.

The Team Yankee starter boxes are pretty good, though as mentioned they don't have much in terms of infantry. You will want infantry at some point.

Thanks for the input, everyone. My friend mentioned I would get a few non-Battlefront options suggested which is why he pointed me here.

@Saber6, I will look at those companies.

@Sigwald, thanks for the link to NWS. I will check them out.

@Lion in the Stars, I am also a Cowboy Bebop fan! :)

My local store has the US and Soviet sets so I think I will start with those armies and see how they play. With my friends help I can get them painted fairly quickly. I will go from there once I know how to play the game.

Thanks for the help!

IF you guys are still cking this.. been awhile it seems.
My suggestions to anyone new to Any game, espcaially wargaming.

Rule One..
Play a few games w/ those who have it and find out if you even really like the game. Now days, miniatures can Add Up FAST and be costly. So "Try Before You Buy".

Also..
Decide do you have a preferance, i.e., plasitc, resin, metal. Some gamers do, others mix n match.

@Spike,
You said you were going to get some "non" BF options, be cautious.
"Same scale", does not always mean they will match up as well as you would like.

Best of luck guys.

What I would suggest is that you don't accumulate unpainted miniatures. Get your starter and paint it and *then* buy something to expand it. When that's done, then buy something else.
