What is the earliest year Essex's MID25 hobilar would work for in your mind? The latest?

GurKhan06 Mar 2017 7:43 a.m. PST

Judging from link he looks close to the equipment list required of a hobilar in 1335. Figures in relatively simple kit like this are harder to date (and easier to use) than those in more date-sensitive full gear. I'd be happy using him as early as 1290, and as late as 1440 or so; maybe even later if individuals dressed like this were mixed in with others in more modern gear.

He could be a Scottish soldier for any time during the Hundred years war. Like GurKhan says though, the simple armor and equipment means he would be hard to place in an era. For instance, in 1250, he would be a fairly well equipped man-at-arms. In 1400, he would probably be of fairly low status.

Thanks for the info guys. Guess I can't use him for what I had in mind.
