Just curious, what percentage of your miniatures are painted. Let's just say: well enough to game with, whatever that means to you.

I'd say I'm north of 95%. I have a box of Micro armor to work through, and a few viking ships. After that my unpainted is really just "leftovers." This year I'm going to clear it all out: paint it, sell it, or toss it.

Not to say I won't buy any new, but I do tend to dump the old as well.

So, care to share: how much of yours lead is painted?

mad monkey 104 Mar 2017 4:14 p.m. PST

65%.

GildasFacit Sponsoring Member of TMP04 Mar 2017 4:18 p.m. PST

It would take hours to work it out for certain but probably guess at around 50% on a figure/model count basis – but I could be wildly out.

robert piepenbrink Supporting Member of TMP04 Mar 2017 4:27 p.m. PST

Of those intended for games, 85-90%. But there are a lot of cheap castings kept in the garage because I enjoy painting castings.

evilgong04 Mar 2017 4:54 p.m. PST

33% at a wild guess

David F Brown

Mooseworks804 Mar 2017 4:58 p.m. PST

Less than 10%. But that is not an indicator of a lack of painted field ready armies.

Who asked this joker04 Mar 2017 5:02 p.m. PST

50-60% painted probably.

14Bore04 Mar 2017 5:21 p.m. PST

Awaiting till I can buy more, so 100%

Lascaris04 Mar 2017 5:22 p.m. PST

Somewhere between 80-90%

Personal logo Herkybird Supporting Member of TMP04 Mar 2017 5:27 p.m. PST

About 70% – but that is a guess, I ain't going to count them all!

Bashytubits04 Mar 2017 5:30 p.m. PST

Mine is as about 25%. It used to be higher but I have sold off a bunch of my painted minis.

Winston Smith04 Mar 2017 5:43 p.m. PST

60-75%.
The percentage has gone up since I can't afford to buy "too many" new figures.

Frederick Supporting Member of TMP04 Mar 2017 5:45 p.m. PST

I would guess 75% – like Winston it has gone up a lot over the past few years when I slowed down buying

79thPA Supporting Member of TMP04 Mar 2017 6:04 p.m. PST

Probably 80+%.

By product of being a librarian. Oddly enough I don't consider myself all that much OCD.

TMPWargamerabbit04 Mar 2017 6:25 p.m. PST

60% level I would expect.

rustymusket04 Mar 2017 6:26 p.m. PST

95% or more.I am just filling in a couple of units to make them more flexible for dioramas. I do plan on buying more figs to create a couple more units on each side of my ACW armies, 28 mm Foundry/Perry.

Shagnasty Supporting Member of TMP04 Mar 2017 6:27 p.m. PST

I would guesstimate 50%. I paint a little and buy more.

zoneofcontrol04 Mar 2017 6:46 p.m. PST

I'm sitting here trying to figure out how many places to the left I have to move my decimal point to be accurate.

Doug MSC Supporting Member of TMP04 Mar 2017 6:54 p.m. PST

100% so it's time to get more!

Gonsalvo04 Mar 2017 7:21 p.m. PST

90 – 95%

FusilierDan Supporting Member of TMP04 Mar 2017 7:33 p.m. PST

I going to go with 40%. I've been good about painting most of what I buy and I sold off a bunch of the unpainted.

Early morning writer04 Mar 2017 8:27 p.m. PST

Painted around 18%, primed maybe anther 8-12%. But painted is probably over 5,000 figures, with nearly that many primed.

My saving grace is that I have very little I still want to buy. And, finally, I'm getting time to dive in and paint large numbers for the first time in a while. Just hope the momentum stays with me.

DisasterWargamer Supporting Member of TMP04 Mar 2017 8:36 p.m. PST

60%

ZULUPAUL Supporting Member of TMP04 Mar 2017 8:37 p.m. PST

About 50% I guess, some 6000+ painted, lots unpainted but plan on culling the herd soon.

Ragbones04 Mar 2017 8:51 p.m. PST

95%+

Personal logo Saber6 Supporting Member of TMP Fezian04 Mar 2017 9:14 p.m. PST

55%, maybe. Need to review

KSmyth04 Mar 2017 11:32 p.m. PST

I'm thinking 60%,with no basis for actual certainty.

Old Contemptibles05 Mar 2017 12:22 a.m. PST

I recently sold off a lot of unpainted figs. So I would say about 60% are painted.

Texas Jack05 Mar 2017 12:51 a.m. PST

@ Waco Joe
WOW! You must be the most thorough librarian in the world!grin

Martin Rapier05 Mar 2017 12:58 a.m. PST

I buy the stuff I need, then paint it.

95%

Some stuff could do with repainting of course, which I might get around to at some point.

Redcurrant05 Mar 2017 2:50 a.m. PST

63.292%

Going to have to slow down the buying, as I still have over 17,000 to paint.

Timbo W05 Mar 2017 5:29 a.m. PST

78% overall being 7787 painted 2145 unpainted of 9932 total

consisting of
81% of the infantry
57% of the cavalry
88% of artillery and vehicles etc

though this is a little off as I haven't updated recent acquisitions.

Better than I thought but looks like I need to get on with cavalry.

Cardinal Ximenez05 Mar 2017 5:33 a.m. PST

95% +

Whirlwind05 Mar 2017 6:39 a.m. PST

95%+

The remainder is pretty much entirely the figures of the Conan boardgame and the figures for the Space Hulk game I picked up at Hammerhead yesterday. Oh and a few British 6mm Napoleonic infantry from Baccus that are going to form the nucleus of my army of the USA to re-fight the War of 1812.

whitphoto05 Mar 2017 7:02 a.m. PST

50ish%. A lot higher if you only count my 15mm sci-fi

Huscarle05 Mar 2017 7:32 a.m. PST

About 30% (5000 or so 25/28mm figures); the rest sit in 'really useful boxes' waiting for their call-up.

Rich Bliss05 Mar 2017 8:03 a.m. PST

~85%. It's time for my annual spending spree but even after that, I'll probably be at 75% and then start to recover. In my old age, I've become much more disciplined in selecting projects and buying figures.

Fat Wally05 Mar 2017 8:51 a.m. PST

Probably about 80%.

rampantlion05 Mar 2017 9:47 a.m. PST

probably 40-50%

goragrad05 Mar 2017 12:07 p.m. PST

About 5 percent.

With perhaps another 5 percent primed or in progress.

Just set back up to finish off the exiting figures and start another lot.

Might get that up to 10 percent in a year or so…

ordinarybass05 Mar 2017 12:10 p.m. PST

I'd say 40-50% of my minis are painted. Got alot of useable forces, but lots of ongoing "projects" for which I have enough minis to paint for years.

Oberlindes Sol LIC Supporting Member of TMP05 Mar 2017 12:13 p.m. PST

Waco Joe for the win.

I'd guess that about 30% of my things are painted.

Axebreaker05 Mar 2017 12:59 p.m. PST

Maybe 30% painted, but I expect that ratio to grow as I buy a bit less then I used to these days.

Christopher

Personal logo etotheipi Sponsoring Member of TMP05 Mar 2017 6:32 p.m. PST

90-95% painted. Too much unpainted, and I want more.

'Course the more you paint, the lesser a percentage a few hundred unpainted is …

Personal logo Doctor X Supporting Member of TMP06 Mar 2017 2:50 a.m. PST

I've put a big dent in it over the last five years but I'd still say only around 50%.

Chuckaroobob06 Mar 2017 8:46 a.m. PST

I'd like to think about 50%. That is a wild guess.

coopman06 Mar 2017 4:58 p.m. PST

Maybe 70%.

bobm195908 Mar 2017 10:34 a.m. PST

….around 65%. A lot of what is unpainted is old…..and a lot of what I paint is recently purchased. I'm also part way through major repaint project….so they move from my painted collection and then back!

COL Scott ret09 Mar 2017 2:31 a.m. PST

Well not sure but the formula would look like:

Enough to play * Not all of any period/too many purchased * (un-started period)= plenty to paint with not enough time.
