I found Shapeways acrylic to be very brittle.

Looks like you won't have to buy the 3D prints at Shapeways after he gets the metal production going. I post things i design on Shapeways also, those items will eventually be produced in white metal. Here's the website with his line of figures for sale if you'd like to compare. franznap.jigsy.com "At that price the barrel should be made out of silver." Shapeways cost for silver would run about $1,000 USD or so. :)
