I have finished painting a unit of Afghan regular infantry and a unit early Egyptian infantry, in TSATF, do these units have an nco as the imperial units do?

On an unrelated note, are all Bengal cavalry equipped with lances, or only those designated as lancers?

Winston Smith01 Mar 2017 5:11 p.m. PST

Being regulars, they could have nco figures.
However, if you wish to make the unit brittle, don't give them any.

Ceterman01 Mar 2017 6:01 p.m. PST

I "think" only figures with lances are counted as lancers. At least that's how we play it. I have the 21st Lancers for our AZW battles. But, you may do as you wish! I;m sure Larry would not mind a bit!

Peter,

When i play only lance equipped figures count as lancers. My question was actually regarding real Bengal Lancers

I always understood that Egyptians were treated as European trained troops and therefore were built as British units. As for the Bengal lancers, everybody but the officer and bugler should have lances.

SgtGuinness01 Mar 2017 8:27 p.m. PST

@ Oldjarhead1,

Yes, both the Egyptian and Afghan regulars would have an NCO included in the 20 man unit. All imperial trained and organized troops contain an NCO and a leader.

Not all Bengal Cavalry were lancers.

I hope this helps.

Cheers,
JB

@SgtGuinness,

Thank you, I wanted to paint the Minifigs Bengal cavalry w/swords.

Mad Guru02 Mar 2017 3:50 a.m. PST

oldjarhead,

Sgt Guinness nailed it on the head: there were multiple different regiments of Bengal Lancers, but also multiple different regiments of Bengal cavalry, many of which were armed only with sword and carbine.

Yes, but one MUST begin by building the 77th Bengal Lancers. (And how old does that make me? Too old!)

SgtGuinness02 Mar 2017 8:03 p.m. PST

Robert, knowing the fabled 77th Bengal Cav totally dates you sir! LOL
If we could only get some of the old footage???
Cheers,
JB
