Finally, some love coming to the armor force. This article is about how the Army will use some of the new funds that Trump is allocating to the armed forces to update our aging armored force. And yes, finally, we may replace the M113! link Don't get me wrong, I love the track, but sheeze! She dates back to the '50's. It's time to retire the old girl and bring in something better. The new multi-purpose round and active defenses sound nice too. I hope it's not the jack-of-all-trades but master of none type of up-grade though. |

More like 1976! I love the track. It's a great vehicle and she is pushing 60. That shows you just how hard of an act it is to follow. Like Ma-Deuce! But it's past time to send them out to pasture. Heck, the latest mark of the M113, the A3, is going to be 30 this year! There are probably Army majors who are younger than this track. I remember hearing Vietnam vets joking that the track was the Army's cockroach. "They'll be around long after we're all gone." I wonder if that old sergeant knows just how right he was? |

The Beretta M9 replaced the 1911 and it's still around. The M16 replaced the M14, and it's still around. The B52 has been replaced by the B1 AND B2, and it's still around. The M113 will be replaced and still will be around … |

Yup, the M113 is the ultimate cockroach of an AFV. They'll have them 40,000 years from now. link |
