Read a really good article about the Crusades in East Baltics, and now that I have a copy of Lion Rampart I would like to know if Osprey had any books for that era about 1180 to 1220, for armour and maybe shield designs or maybe actual events. |

I already found it, but if any one has any input I'll take it. |

I recently bought a copy of 'Lion Rampant' for use with my old Mike's Models Baltic Crusades armies but haven't yet given it a try because I also picked up a copy of 'Men Who Would Be King.' I recommend picking up a copy of, 'Wargaming the 13th Century Baltic Crusades,' by Paul Stein, at the Society of Ancients website. It's only six pounds plus mailing. I've had it for years and it's chock full of useful information. |

If you don't have copies, Volume IV of, 'The a Courier, featured the hypothetical "Marnon Campaign," set during the Baltic Crusades. A terrific six-issue feature that is entertaining, inspiring and just a boat load of fun very highly recommended. |

I've got MAA 436, "The Scandinvian Baltic Crusades 1100-1500". It has an overview of the history, description of the armies, and the arms and armour used, some notes on strategy and tactics, and fortifications. The plates are by Angus McBride, and give some idea as to heraldry. I'd recommend the book as a cheap little overview, with colour pictures! |
