Hey all, Does anyone Know when the USMC started using the PASGT? Photos from Grenada suggest that from 83 onward it was pretty common.H However wondering if anyone on here has some more info. |

Helmet: First used in Grenada, standard issue in 1985, completely replaced the M1 helmet by the end of the 1980's. Vest: less clear… mid-1980's. By my own experience, I had the steel pot and what seemed like Vietnam-era olive drab flak vest in boot camp in 1983, but once I hit the fleet, we had Kevlar body armor. Did not get the helmet until a few years later. |

When we landed in Grenada BLT 2/8 (and later Beirut) we used the M1 steel pots. The Army had the new helmets in Grenada. We were issued Kevlar flak jackets during 83 and had them in Grenada and Beirut. By the mid 80s (86?) I seem to recall we had the new helmets. |
