From Prague to Hillsboro, Texas in 4 days. I ordered a Prusa i3 Mk2 back in December after cashing out my Magic The Gathering collection. Their popularity had a two month backorder status but they warn you of that up front. I went ahead and got the prebuilt model rather than the kit. It took me about 30 minutes to calibrate and do a test print. Now to prioritize the various tanks, castles, terrain and general "neat stuff" I have gleaned off the web and do some real printing. Good thing I have two weeks off coming off.

WJ, sounds pretty nice. Do keep us updated. I am interested in this particular printer too. Thanks for sharing. |

Good choice. Once the shine is off the tyres, you should build it its own enclosure. If you are going to use ABS you probably want to make the enclosure so it can be vented to the outside of the house so it doesn't stink the place up. PETG is supposed to be relatively odour free, is strong but translucent, no idea how it takes paint. Two weeks off is great, but you will soon loose interest in watching it whirr and buzz – its something you have running while you are doing domestic chores or painting figures and do the occasional checks while it is printing for 8-12 hours. |

Great, you are going to have fun with that. |

First non test print 1:100 BTR60 done on optimal settings (balance of speed and quality)
The MG barrel broke while cleaning out the supports, but I was already thinking about replacing small things like that with plastic or metal rod. It is interesting that the layering you see in the photo is not really noticeable to the naked eye bsrlee: I'll be sticking with PLA for the time being for that very reason. ABS is tempting due to the post printing processing you can do with acetone, but that will wait for awhile. I am already to the set it and forget it stage. The BTR was done overnight while I slept. And if luck holds the foam hex jigs I backed on Kickstarter should arrive before my break and I can start on creating stuff like this:

Any idea what the cost for a 15mm tank like that might end up being? Thanks! James |

Based on weight as a percentage of the filament roll cost my guess would be about 65 cents |

That looks good. Whar was rhe layer thickness? |
Waco Joe | 27 Feb 2017 5:31 a.m. PST |
.15mm layer height. I can get down to .05mm if I change to a .25 nozzle. |

I have never thought of printing models standing on the rear end. what did you see as the gain for doing so? |

UshCha, it looks like there is less support needed. The majority of support printed on this one was on the smaller area of the end. If printed horizontally there would have been support printed all along the bottom between the wheels. It is the way the model was designed thingiverse.com m_bergman so I just decided to go with it. |
