The 60s remake, starring Yul Brynner is an epic, sweeping action piece and excellent inspiration for gamers. It was filmed in southern Spain, and nominally set during the 1912 Orozco Rebellion, when Villa was serving with the Federales and under the command of Huerta; although it erroneously has the Colorados in federal-style uniforms.

Villa Rides was not a remake but scripted by Sam Peckinpah and fairly violent for the time hangings execution of preisoners etc.

My personal preference is 'Starring Pancho Villa as Himself' although made for TV it is about early cinema's involvement in the Mexican Revolution.

Pity that the Peckinpah version isn't available on Youtube.
