Hello,
Any recommedations for tactical sources regarding US military and US militia forces?

Yes. Try THIS MISERABLE PRIDE OF A SOLDIER: The Letters and Journals of Col. William S. Foster in the Second Seminole War 1836-1839 for a primary source. (Sorry for the caps, by the way. I was cutting and pasting from an online listing that has it that way.)

Also, I like Prof. John Mahon's book for an excellent modern history of the war.
