Working on campaign scenarios. This one has an urban setting.

Looks great!

What is Tatort?

What is Altengard?

darthfozzywig23 Feb 2017 9:16 a.m. PST

Really nice!

M C MonkeyDew23 Feb 2017 9:27 a.m. PST

Thanks!

Tatort (in English "Crime Scene" is a long running German police show. Each sub series follows Tatort with either the city where it takes place or the name of the main character.

Altengard is a country in Two Hour Wargames' Talomir. Presumably Altengard might also be the capital city.

I am using it as a place holder until a good name comes to mind.

The basic idea is that the players have to figure out who/what is plaguing the city and then burn the baddie out with fire and sword.

Atomic Floozy23 Feb 2017 11:34 a.m. PST

Indeed, according to an old Warrior Heroes document Altengard is the capitol city of the state of Altengard.

tkdguy23 Feb 2017 1:44 p.m. PST

Nice terrain! It can also be used in a historical, fantasy, or even modern-era game.

I've seen several episodes of the Tatort series, with different main characters. Great show.

M C MonkeyDew24 Feb 2017 7:18 a.m. PST

Only had the pleasure of seeing three of the series. Each enjoyable and different enough from one another.

Also a big fan of Buekow and Koening but have only seen one season so far.

Thanks for the kind words all.

Atomic Floozy: Thanks! Matches my memory.

somebodies rich…Great terrain, I'm just jealous…

Been at this toy soldier lark since the 1960's. A large collection can be built up over time.

Helps to have an understanding wife who knew what she signed on for near 30 years back now :)

So will you be using any of the Tatort characters here (I can see Ballauf and Schenk roaming these streets), or will you make your own characters?

M C MonkeyDew25 Feb 2017 5:53 a.m. PST

Ballauf And Schenk would fit well wouldn't they? Ballauf can be just returned from an expedition to the New World, while Schenk would be his lovable, gruff self!

Probably not. It's going to be an introductory adventure and I should let the players name their own characters.

Love your idea though!

If you ever do,please include a figure for Schotty,Der Tatortreiniger:

Schenck always makes me think of Curley:

tkdguy25 Feb 2017 10:27 p.m. PST

LOL Freddy sometimes acts like Curly too, albeit in a grumpier way.

I once dreamed I was Max Ballauf.

Schotty is great. He met Bukow twice and and Koenig once. The terrain here seems a bit too glitzy for Bukow and Koenig, though.

For those not in the know here's a link about Ballauf and Schenk

And one for Bukow and Koenig:

Schotty!

HvS: Now you mention it I never have seen Schenk and Curley in the same room…

tkdguy: Great links!

M C MonkeyDew27 Feb 2017 8:37 a.m. PST

Completed first patrol.

Five Watchmen sent out.

Patrol completed.

Three cultists killed outright
Six cultists wounded and apprehended.
Three escaped into the night.

One Watchmen KIA.
One in hospital.
One wounded but fit for duty.

With the patrol completed and with prisoners to question, this one was a definite success.

tkdguy28 Feb 2017 1:06 a.m. PST

Cool! Ehich system are you using?

M C MonkeyDew28 Feb 2017 5:34 a.m. PST

Writing a second edition of Warrior Heroes: Armies and Adventures for Two Hour Wargames. I expect the campaign will be easily transferable to other games.

You may be pleased to find that I went with your suggestion regarding the names.

The players will command a section of the Watch, and will choose their names but their subordinates are:

• Watch Detachment
o Ballauf
o Schenk
o Borowski
o Bukow
o Anders
o Beck
o Larsson
o Leon
o Brunetti
o Erlicher
o Poeschel
o Thiesler

Schotty, Roth, and Berger are also in the game as support personnel.

Rather than the capital city Altengard, I am going with a Free City, Dom that is a sort of a mix of Koeln and Hamburg.

The game will include a more traditional monster hunting campaign as well that involves fighting greenskins in a frontier region. May make that one setting independent so it can be used in any of the Talomir World's nations. This won't be the full fledged "Beyond the Green River" from my blog, but a simpler version of it so folks who buy the book get some scenarios, campaigns, and army lists to start playing straight away.

Looks fatastic! I need to do some cobblestone streets like that for my wargame towns and cities.

I see the DVD sets are now gong for $20 USD or less at several sources.

There must be some chemical suit figures around.

M C MonkeyDew02 Mar 2017 6:06 a.m. PST

+1 for Schotty!

Another patrol hit the mean streets last night.

picture

This time with more than human krims with which to deal. Only three prisoners taken, but the Watch found a valuable clue as well.

Hafen von Schlockenberg02 Mar 2017 12:18 p.m. PST

Nice!

Hmm. . .I suppose Schotty (and the others) would have to be "period-adapted" for your game.

Unless the setting is Ankh-Morpork. The dwarf would certainly fit.

Is that Carrot with the sword? Too heroic-looking to be Vimes!

M C MonkeyDew02 Mar 2017 1:08 p.m. PST

Shotty is an alchemist.

I haven't named the figures in the play tests, but the Watch detachment are all humans, so presumably he would be a player character.

M C MonkeyDew03 Mar 2017 7:29 a.m. PST

HvS: Coincidentally just watched the Crime Scene Cleaner episode in which Bukow and Koenig put in an appearance. Delightful!

Hafen von Schlockenberg03 Mar 2017 9:25 p.m. PST

I need to get the DVD's. I've only seen the ones on MHZ,and I may have missed a couple of those.

M C MonkeyDew04 Mar 2017 6:15 a.m. PST

It's only episode 3 or 4 on MHZ. Perhaps you saw it before knowing who Bukow and Koenig were?

Hafen von Schlockenberg04 Mar 2017 11:50 a.m. PST

Maybe. I've seen some of those there, I thought before Crime Scene Cleaner. But as I say, I think I missed some of those too.

BTW, I don't suppose you could work in a little Nicolas le Floch, could you?

youtu.be/nNym6liZ7MQ

M C MonkeyDew04 Mar 2017 12:20 p.m. PST

Le Floch is for my Flintloque/Black Powder Fanatsy themed games…as is Johan Daadh from Anno 1790.

Although up to this point I haven't used them.

Hafen von Schlockenberg04 Mar 2017 3:57 p.m. PST
