I'm planning a 35th anniversary D&D cartoon mini event next year and was wondering if any metal mini sets of the characters exists. I'd prefer 25mm or 28mm to match my other stuff, but I'll take what I can get. (I know there are PVC options, but they're expensive and not my thing.)

I found these individual pieces at Hasselfree that match pretty well, but I'll need a bunch more.

• Sheila the Thief1 ("Lenore"): link

• Sheila the Thief2 ("Dynamic Lenore"): link

And I guess I could use this for Diana, but that would definitely change my target audience…

• Diana the Acrobat ("Nubian Female with Spear"): link

There was a Kickstarter that did these. They did an Orc army, Venture, Dungeon Master, and grown up versions of the main characters. I pledged and they should be showing up soon. I don't remember the parent company that did them but am sure they will be a general release.

One option might be Antediluvian Miniatures' 28mm Dungeon Explorers set, but it was a Kickstarter that I was unaware of, so I've missed it. I sent them an e-mail, though, to see when they might become available for general purchase. Will update.

Oh hey, Sir Water Rlyeh, yeah thanks, just mentioned it in my last post (didn't see your post yet). I've sent them an inquiry, so we'll see.

Good options here, too, but no Bobby, Uni or DM and it seems like they've merged Hank and Eric, unless it's just mislabeled and they're working on the other fig:

Response from Antediluvian: "we should have everything up for sale in the next few weeks, keep a lookout on our website and facebook pages for announcements!"

Another Sheila, with promises of more D&D figs to come: link

Here is Lenore in Sheila mode

Doesn't look very practical outfit for a thief though.

Don't forget Uni,the baby unicorn,also the Cavalier(Eric) character voiced by Don Most,or Sheila's little bro, Bobby(Barbarian).

I saw a mini tango posted awhile back of an element? for I think dark age games that looked like the shadow demon to me.

dndgeek23 Feb 2017 11:40 a.m. PST

Tgunner: When you're invisible, who cares? :)

Old Wolfman: Yeah, the only Uni, Eric and Bobby options I've seen so far are from Antediluvian, so hopefully those will be available soon.

napthyme: Ooh, I forgot about the shadow demon. Good call, but what is a mini tango? Reaper has something passable, if I don't find anything better: link

I'm told Eric & DM will be available soon from the same guy on Shapeways…woot!

So I wanted to place an order for six metal figures, one each of the D&D cartoon cast, from "Dodger's Stuff" on Shapeways, but he has no uniform metal material for them all. Some have polished nickel available, some only have polished grey steel or plain stainless steel. I ordered what polished items I could afford and took unpolished steel for two of them, but unfortunately, none of them could be created. I don't know anything about casting or tolerances, so I'm not sure why they couldn't be made, but am pretty disappointed at this point. I might be able to order plastic versions, but at the same price and I'm not terribly keen on paying $100 USD for six plastic figures.

Update: I ordered Hank the Ranger in "frosted extreme detail" plastic from El_Dodgero on Shapeways for about $9 USD and I received it successfully, so plastic can be done at least. Ordering Bobby & Uni and Diana now.

@dndgeek

How did your project progress on this? Have you ran the anniversary event yet?

dndgeek15 Aug 2018 12:59 p.m. PST

Hey trynda1701,

I did not run it, due to issues with the figures. Though I was able to get the whole set, just handling the "frosted extreme detail" minis I mentioned previously can easily break them. I broke both Bobby's Club and Diana's staff twice each, just trying to prime or paint them. I could have tried the "lesser" versions, which I've heard are more sturdy, but by then I had sunk a bunch of money in already and time was running short. Plus, I developed 7 other games for conventions this year, so I was pretty busy anyway, but I plan to try again on the cartoon's 40th anniversary, in 5 years. When I start working on it again, I'll stop back in with updates. If interested in any of my other projects, though, I can be found at dndgeek (dot) com and on Facebook as dndgeek.
