So after an evening of applying chunks of flock one at a time with spray adhesive, I was reminded why I hate both clump foliage and why I hate spray adhesive!

I thought this would go fairly quickly, but it ended up taking forever. There is no other way to apply foliage to this kind of surface, hot glue would have melted the pillow fluff. And white glue or tacky wouldn't have dried before the chunks would fall off from gravity.

But good GRACIOUS what a mess!!! By the end I had a giant clump of leftover foliage all glued to itself by the spray adhesive. I discovered there is no way to do this and do it neatly. Everything in the area where you are working gets sticky as the excess spray vapors land on whatever surface you're working on.

The results came out looking pretty good I think. I think the pillow fluff really helps make the tree into a more realistic shape. And you end still being able to see the trunk and the bottom-most branches.

The one bag of Woodland Scenics clump foliage was enough to about ten stands of trees, and there's still some leftover.

Just one word of advice if you attempt this. I would NOT recommend skimping on the brand of spray adhesive you buy!!! Do not go cheap on this! Stick with a brand you know is trustworthy, or stick to a name brand like a Loctite or an Elmers spray adhesive. Don't take a chance with a generic unless you've seen it work before.

I've used weak spray adhesives before, and for this kind of project it's practically worthless and ends up being an exercise in futility!

Handsom! Though sounds like it just may not be worth the effort?

I really like the idea of using the batting material to fluff out the trees. Well done!

Thanks!

THAT'S right, I couldn't for the life of me remember the other name that stuff was called by…. batting!

Trees can be an utter pain to glue folliage onto, Good job using the wadding.

There you go another regional term for the stuff.

I still use whie clue and build up layers of folliage, but it does take a long time.

Good job.
