Yet another project I was finally able to get to after a long while was doing a snow board!

I'm getting into Frostgrave, and got really excited about the prospects of having a winter terrain table to fight on as opposed to the usual grasslands of spring and summer.

For trees and rock formations, I decided to use the exact same materials that I had used for my ordinary terrain, but change the color of the static grass and of course add a snow effect.

I decided that the most economical way to make a bunch of snow pieces was to invest in two shakers of flock – winter/dead static grass, and snow flock. This stuff goes a LONG way. I did all the bases you see in these photos and I still have nearly 4/5th of the shakers left.

One technical problem I did run into with snow flock which I didn't anticipate though. I glued the dead grass flock over the bases first, and then glued a layer of the snow flock over it.

The problem with this is that the color of the static grass bleeds up through the snow, because the snow sinks down into the while glue. As a result, the snow is kind of yellowed in color. Not a huge deal, the snow flock still looks amazingly real. All I have to do is go back and add a second coating of snow flock to those areas and it should make it a purer white. Plus a second layer will give the illusion of some actual depth of real snow.
