A couple of buddies of mine and I are playing some chain of command and we're now thinking about some nicer terrain.

How has your experience been with the 15mm mdf kits? Do you prefer the unpainted kits? Or the painted ones?

We've looked at a few manufacturers and a couple stand out. 4Ground, Sarissa and cresnt root. Sarissa seems the most affordable but the 4Ground stuff looks nicer and is already painted.

Appreciate any feedback or other suggestions for manufacturers to look at. We're in the states but I see some UK companies offer inexpensive shipping to the US

thanks

Take a look at Crescent Root for quality pre painted mdf. I rate them much higher than anyone else in the mdf space.

MDF is time consuming to build and can look too sharp/artificial. It also has less detail than resin can get, plus it's not much cheaper.

On the other hand they often have interior playable area and are more moddable. Oh, and they tend to be more resistant to damage/paint chipping than resin.

You might consider the peter Pig Normandy range. The buildings have lots of small detail and non-linear surfaces. All pictured on the PP website. Researched in Normandy!

I use resin and MDF on the same table. It is not an either/or. The Sally 4th and 4 Ground stuff is very nice.

I also use resin. Some resin is beautiful but some is dog-awful. My biggest beef is resin is usually solid so troops either go on the roof or you pull the building off the table when occupied.

The Foxhole buildings are almos
t all hollow and pretty cheap.

I have a preference for resin but that is just my taste.

Resin and MDF work very well together:

Highly recommend Crescent Root as well.
I own many of their products in both 15mm and 28mm.
Superb quality.
