Really clever. I love to see conversions. So what is the fate of the shako heads? I do hope that you do not regret instead cutting off with a fresh scalpel blade (I do have an access advantage there) as cutters can crush them at the neck. Were Marie Louises' even this well turned out? Ragged is the impression I get. Very imaginative whatever……. |

I think I have WG and Victrix pokalems/pokemons too, I would have liked to swap them in exchange for Young Guard Victrix heads for instance… are you still interested? |

Thanks all! I think these are very well turned out Marie Louises Liam, some even have an extra pair of shoes on their packs! Defacto Shako heads will be used for casualty markers (the shakos not the heads – I'm not that morbid! :)) @ Drocton, sorry I'm not after any extra heads, thanks for offer though. |

I do think the pokalem must take a prize as the ugliest and daftest piece of headwear ever. Earflaps OK, I will concede, but no peak. The Prussian version is almost worse as it seems a perfect cylinder, without the "pie-crust topping". I do like the bonnet de police, (however useless) provided not overdone. It can look like Thunderbirds crew puppetry. Presumably these ad hoc units would not have had the traditional flank companies or, if so, no chance to kit them out accordingly…as greater priorities? |

Very nice! And I have to agree – to me the Pokalem, pillbox hat and side cap are in a race for "least functional headgear" |

Cheers, I'm not sure about the flank companies, I am actually going to do some for them though I think! |

@Deadhead: I remember reading some 1814 correpondence in the Vincennes archives that provisional and national guard units were petitioning for permission to form flank companies after they had proven themselves under fire, but that was several years ago and I was after something else, so I didn't transcribe it all – sorry! |

Interesting thanks for the information Musketier! |
