My latest modern battle report, with a US SOF element compromised while on a recon mission on the outskirts of Mosul. Fair to middling size gunfight with ISIS.

And, a link to my collection of Iraq battle reports, with skirmishes in three phases of the conflict there (initial invasion, occupation, rise of ISIS).

Reports were great to read, terrain and minis are good too, but is it me or did most battles seem one sided? and insurgent casualties very high?

Very one-sided whenever d6 Troop Quality (TQ) insurgents face off against d10 TQ elites, or when the dice don't go their way. I've got a game to post where the insurgents inflicted enough casualties that we gave the Americans reinforcements after turn 1, so it's definitely possible for the insurgents to win. They just have a small margin of error, and Fog of War cards can derail them at critical times.

This is a good example:

Finally got the game I was referring to posted – US forces lose a fire team up front and another at the end of this AAR. Sometimes you eat the bear, sometimes the bear eats you:
