Now that the Blood & Plunder Kickstarter campaign is over and the rewards have been sent out, has anyone had the chance to play the rules? I see from the Firelock Games website that they are now taking orders for internet sales and am curious about the game mechanics and overall rules. |

I have played two games of it and it is an OUTSTANDING set. Figures are great, the writers of the rules are great guys that support their product well on their Facebook page. The community on there is very large and a historical consultant to Black Sails is very active there as well. Great set of period rules. Basically each side has a deck of cards, you draw a card from your deck for each unit still on the table. If an event card is drawn you roll for the event and draw a new card. Each side plays a card and reveals to see who activates. High cards will get you initiative but you will have less actions. Low cards play after but can get more bang for the buck. Low card unit is selected and activates. Then place another card and reveal, repeat until all units have activated. Leaders of a force with a unit can give more orders to others based on their command points. Units can fire 1/2 of their unit, 1/2 dice and then fire again next turn at 1/2. Or fire full volley at full dice, you then add 2 reload markers. As units take hits and casualties they eventually gain fatigue, once fatigue is double the number of figures the unit routs. It is a great game and very well researched. Forces so far are English Buccaneers, English Caribbean Militia, French Buccaneers, Spanish Guarda Costa, Spanish Caribbean Militia, and Brethren of the Coast. each side has an option to go with generic leaders or actual historical leaders. Yes lots of videos on factions and gameplay are on Youtube. Also within the face-book group page you will find various after action reports. |

After trying a demo game link , I am planning to get into Blood and Plunder myself. They have a Kickstarter coming up soon too and I am very interested in seeing what they present for that. |

Second the thoughts expressed above. Good activation system, nice reload ideas, historical feel and smart enough to use d10. Highly recommeded. TomT |
