Deadhead very kindly made some of my pictures TMP friendly, so hopefully these will show, as a first time for me to show some of my work

That is some seriously good brushwork. What scale are those figures? |

These are Italeri and Zvezda 1/72 soft plastics. They were set up today as part of a multi-player Black Powder game we played. Half way through the scenario and the French are edging it. The joy of photos (and these are hasty iPhone snaps) is that I can see some errors – so there is a paint chip on the top right hand corner of the generals book to touch up, etc It makes me realise how unforgiving photos are, and so increases my respect for those of you who regularly share on TMP So many thanks Liam. I need to sort out a photo album so I can post more Hope you enjoy, happy to be critiqued Marc |

That is wonderful work for 1/72 figures. I'm seriously impressed. What technique do you use for the gold lace on the uniforms and the saddlecloths? It looks great. |

SJ. Thank you for your kind words. 1/72 figures are so nicely proportioned and detailed, that they respond well to careful painting. I paint everything with Vallejo Game Colour acrylics, and Warlord washes (to match the dip I use on the rank and file). So these guys are the result of Paint (say) gold – Vallejo do a rich gold Deep brown wash (strong tone) Re-applying rich gold on raised areas Highlight with bright gold I use washes a lot as plastic figures sometimes have soft "edges" between parts (i.e. Reins and horseflesh). The washes hide the joins, softening the transition. Also, 1/72 are, by volume, a lot smaller than a 28mm. So sometimes I have to accept that the detail may not actually be that cleanly cast. So washes and multiple highlights can be used to "fake it" |

Armand, my pleasure to share |

OK, I have responsibility for this posting. Firstly I always thought 1/72 figures (if in plastic) were not to be taken seriously…. and I really do mean that. I thought until a few hours ago they were just an economical way to build up large armies for battles, not close inspection. Let me just say I have saved these pics for my future reference. things I would point out. The red velvet highlights on the general's shabraque ….. the cockade on his hat….the sabretache detail…above all the really dark blue used here. Mine is blacker still and my highlight is still blacker than this….but, in photography….which lightens it…this is fantastic This is not TOTS….(The One True Scale)…heck, it is not even in metal…imagine if we could get this guy to work in 28mm in lead alloy. Von W and ArchiD..eat yer hearts out……. This guy has talent (quote from a movie…just before he loses his right eye and right temporal lobe) Seems Marc is a TMP virgin. It is very very long time since I have…no let's not go there… Marc, if there are any more pics you can show like this…even remotely like this…. Just before the deadline runs out..I read…he took this with his phone….his phone. I have a massive tripod (seriously huge) five spot lamps…..a five second exposure….a silver back screen…a camera that cost me £750.00 GBP ten years ago (yeah, I know that is the problem…now £100.00 GBP on e Bay) etc etc….why do I not get pics like this? |

Marc that is really nice work. I especially like your sabretaches! |

Thanks Marc. I have always had a problem doing gold lace and I'm going to give your technique a try because the results are outstanding. I paint 15s and I've never tried washes but I will now. Keep posting the pictures. I want to see more. |

Beautiful work Marc! I am very impressed indeed!! I also like your bases, I know it takes time to make a nice base and these bases really do your lovely figures justice. Bravo!!! And keep sharing photos!! (I set up a flicker account for that purpose, and it is really not to hard to post here once you get used to the copying and snipping;) |

Thanks guys – I'm loving all this praise. Feels good I can tell you! And for vW to comment – given how good his figures are. Well, colour me happy Marc |

I am a 1/72 plastics fan. These are very nicely done!
Been painting, buying and gaming with them since about 1970. I love em! |

Would the membership care to post pics or links to your Frostgrave terrain? I am about to start painting my first Frostgrave terrain mat and would like to see what others have made. Thank you! XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX What? That was not my last posting! I have been glitched. Past, passive, perfect of the verb to glitch…I think. My response was far more profound than this….and typically far longer! |
