That's not a "going outside" suit, that's a "something has gone badly wrong inside the ship, please keep me alive" suit. EVAs are gonna need a bigger, bulkier, tougher, more capable suit. Probably a white one! John T |

The environmental control systems have gotten a lot better, you don't need a white space suit for EVA anymore. |

I doubt these have much of a cooling system… this is like an airbag in a sportscar… it may save your life, but it's not something you want to have to count on. |

I have said before, the only way I'd go into space. Would be in the comfort of any version of the Enterprise, Voyager, Defiant, etc. Or if abducted by Aliens !  |

Actually, one of my oldest friends designs spacesuit gloves or something like that for NASA (and he and I were a year or two ahead of the current head of Johnson Space Center). I wonder if he worked on this. |

For an oh shit! suit, I'd want the helmet attached already, but for general EVA I think you'd be better off with a separate helmet. After all, with a separate helmet, if your helmet goes bad, you just grab another one. |
