It's been a year since this:

So maybe it's time to ask for any additional ideas. Have you discovered (or rediscovered) a historical novel that could make a good film?

This was triggered by coming across my old copy of Shadow Hawk, which I'm rereading. I'd love to see a movie, though I still fear Norton's typically lean, tightly plotted story would likely be turned into a bloated Hollywood mess.

BTW,apologies if this has already become a poll--I don't remember, and there doesn't appear to be a way to search polls.

How about one of the Flashman novels? Maybe with Robert Downey, Jr., in the lead role.

Any of Douglas Reeman/Alexander Kent's books. Ditto for Dudley Pope and Victor Suthren. Lindsey Davis' "Iron Hand of Mars" would score on both the military and dectective scales.

The Camulod Chronicles by Jack Whyte.
How Few Remain by Harry Turtledove.
The Eagle Series by Simon Scarrow.

I would definitely add USS Lincoln by Scott Perry. Even if they never make the movie someone should secure the rights. For a large amount too.
