Okay, we are starting our campaign of the Corellian Conflict and fought our first battle. Indierockclimber and others have straightened me out concerning use of the objective cards in the standard Armada game, but I'm still confused about using the additional cards in the Corellian Conflict campaign. So here is what we did yesterday and you can tell me if we did it right or did it wrong. I was playing Imperial. My opponent playing Rebel automatically got to decide on his first assault (because at this point we both had zero campaign points and Rebels go first in a tie) which automatically made him Player 1 and me Player 2. So that means he gets to choose one of my objectives. However, the location of the assault was the planet Nubia which had the notation "+3 Objective Cards". So, we took that to mean that three additional objective cards from the new ones which come with Corellian Conflict are selected and added to the three I already had with my defending fleet. But how are those three cards selected? The rules don't say as far as I could find. Do I, as the defender, pick them? Or do you just shuffle the deck and take three at random? We finally decided to pick them at random. So we did and added them to my three, giving us six. The Rebel player then picked the one he wanted: "Blockade Run" and we had our game. (And a fun game it was, too. I have to admit that the objectives do add an interesting new aspect to the game.) So did we do this right? |

As I recall (don't have the rules in front of me), you select three objective cards, one of each type. Your opponent does the same. He picks one of yours and gives it to you. You pick one of his and give it to him. The new cards are simply added to the mix. I'll check later to make sure this is correct. |

Aha! Okay, we did it wrong in our game. The +X Cards is the number of the defender's normal three objective cards! Any other cards that the location indicates (Asteroids, Nebula, Station, etc.) are then used in addition to any of the +X Cards. And if there is a base in the system you only use the base defense cards. And the Hyperlane Raid and Show of Force are used exclusively for those type of assaults. The other 12 cards are just additions to the normal mission cards in the basic game and can be selected by the player per the normal rules. Okay, I think I get it now. Wow, the rules sure could have been written more clearly! |
