Just finished painting and basing the French Artillery train from Eureka miniatures 18mm.
The Caisson is from the AB range, and the fellows on foot are from the Eureka camp vignette.
Wonderful sculpts with lots of clear details and easy to paint up. The horses have long legs making them quite nice also.
Thanks for looking!

Well done Dr J!

Not enough limbers and caissons around so good for you.

I'm just about to do some Saxon ones to go with my Saxon guns:

Quite nicely done!

Very nice. Almost too good to put on the table. Almost

I got some of these for a carriage project and, at first, thought the chap seen here, facing way from the caisson, was holding an ammo round. Finally the penny dropped!

Nice work.

nice work – don't forget to paint the metal parts of the waggon in black.

I don't think that's a 6pdr shell he's priming…

Great work!

Yes, I used him in a Retreat from Moscow Diorama….but I have experienced -23C in Red Square where my Altama US Marine boots both froze and cracked right across the junction twixt sole and heel, in seconds.

It was my third time there, in the winter, and I would not expect to risk what he is doing…….

Indeed, I would not expect to even find it!

Thank you for the kind comments Gents!
Thank you Von W! I saw it when I posted the pictures. Incredible how some things are more evident in photos and vice versa. The metal parts are now painted metallic/old steel blackened;)

I like your Saxon arty Paul! I will be doing some more guns for my little Saxon contingent later on and your photos will serve me well as a reference when the time comes, thanks for sharing:)
Perhaps I could use these same figures and paint them up as Saxons…

I thought the litte guy taking a …. is the funniest thing I have seen in a long time in this scale! And why not sculpt more figures doing the mundane kind of things one would expect to see when on campaign.
I am still holding my breath for some talented sculptor, like Mike Broadbent, Sho or Xan perhaps to sculpt some Hussars on picket duty or skirmishing.
Like these maybe:

Perrys do some nice cavalry skirmishers – but I agree – more figures would be appreciated

I once converted a plstic Perry hussar on an metal Perry horse to give a more realistic horse height to horsemen impression

Oh he is brilliant.

We all know about your painting skills, but it is your conversions that get me. His overalls do not just have the buttons, they have the button holes.

That standing horse from Perrys' Chasseurs a Chev…..I have many of them for such work….and many a chasseur in the lead pile as a result!

von Winterfeldt07 Feb 2017 5:37 a.m. PST

the standing horse is from one of the AWI cavalry sets – which fitted the bill well for my conversion.
It works well to mount plastic Perry cavalry on more realistic metal horses – regarding horse heights.

These may fit the bill eventually for skirmishing hussars

Sorry for just links – I don't know how to make these pictures. But they are lovely figures for those of you prepare3d to follow a link – imaginative and well realised figures, posing and equipment

Franznap did some very very nice Austrian hussars skirmishing

As per my links

All these figures are fantastic and you guys are lucky to have Franznap! I have seen them many times as I regularly use Franznaps website/store as inspiration! I must admit that I have often been ambivalent about the change from 1/72 to 15mm that I made way back..
As Deadhead often points out, more often than not, well scultped figures these days seems to be in 1/72, and the possibilites these days are almost, if not equally, as good as in 15/18mm.
However, to make the hop back to this size with a French army alone of litterally thousands of minis in 15/18mm, would be nothing short of lunacy, and most probably also result in a divorce demand from Mrs Jeckyll!

Von W, that is exactly what I have been hoping someone would make in 18mm..!!
Maybe Sho can be warmed up to the idea….
