Here it is folks a 1/144 Unimog done on Rino. Small size 36mm long so some compromise to allow 3D printing. comments welcome link link link Open back to cut Shapeways cost. While I have check printed on the Replicator 2 it is poor as the basic program puts in too many supports. Not worth doing my own supports as this may not be that expensive for a Shapeways print. If anybody fancies one it may be possible to get it on a Shapeways shop. |

Looks good. I can certainly use some, for my West Germans and Danes. Some little Iltis, Munga, and 151 Mutts would be very useful too. |

Mako I only do it for fun. Next my be a GAZ 66. I wiull see if Shipyards will do it once I have soame proper prints. Can you spot the "artistic" changes from the real thing. |

I was not going to be beaten. Automatic supports mad it unuseable so drew my own and got a passable print. wireframe with supports link link Remember its only 1.25 inch long |

Here is a Unimog I made. 1/160 scale.

Can we see a better picture? I would love to comparew printed standards. If you do add a better one layer thickness would be a usefull bit of data as would the thickness of the front bumper. Why 1/160? most of us do 1/144. Thanks in advance Brian. |

I feel 1/160 is really the proper scale for 10mm. 1/144 is really N scale which is more like 12mm. My modern armies are all 1/600 or 1/285 scale though. The 1/160 was an experiment to see if I could get a decent print. I tried taking some pictures to post but wasn't happy with them, I will post some later when I get a better camera. |

We went 12mm becuase of the avaiable plastic at the time and 10mm is noticeabley smaller than 12mm. Plus mosr "10mm" figures were 12mm anyway, Pendragon and Minifigs hence 1/144 was a better fit. Plus 10mm was a bit too small for us. |

Yea, Pendraken's 10mm is apparently 1/150th scale, which apparently is the UK's definition for "N-Scale". I queried them about that, and got the above response, so they're really only about 4% smaller than the 1/144th scale minis, which works out to be about a millimeter or two, depending upon the size of the vehicles. |

Mako11, You percieve models by volume not by linear size hence 1/150 would appear to be 11.5% smaller which is significant. 1/160 would appear around 25% smaller (144/160 = 0.9 Percieved size diference= 0.9^3= 72.9% of 1/144 scale). |

Yes, I was strictly going on one linear measurement, mathematically. 1/144th – 1/150th is on about a 4% difference in size, when measured that way. I wasn't comparing them to the 1/160th vehicles, but you have a valid point about that too. |
