Ok generally orcs are green, but are there other colours, for different races? Would like to know, thank you in advance |

Well, some green is ok,isnt it? I liked the depiction in the LOTR movies, which was about 50 shades of everything. |

The green is just the aloe-based sunscreen in which they slather themselves (it builds up over time). One good thunderstorm and they revert back to their original coloring. |

I have a variety from green to light flesh to ochre and grey. It is fantasy after all, Tally Ho! |

I can't recall for sure, but I think the orcs of middle earth (the books not the movies) are described as having black skin and grey skin for some of the different races. |

I paint my orcs as brownskins unless it is for a commission. |

If they aren't GW ones I usually do them in a rusty orange colour. |

Yellow ochre like Sabre6, and sometimes panzer yellow. And grey. And medium brown… |

The old 1e AD&D Monster Manual described one skin shade as being Olive green, so it dates back to at least 1978. I've been painting some of my pig-snout Otherworlds orcs olive drab as a skintone… Damon. |

I base my orcs on the 1960s/70s Planet of the Apes, so I go for dark browns, chocolates and black. Here's what one looks like:

From 1977. Anyone know a manufacturer making anything vaguely reminiscent of these guys? |

@Rubber Suit – if you don't get an answer here, go check out the "Old School Miniatures" group on Facebook, they might be able to help. I wouldn't mind having a few of those myself, if they're made like that. |

Rubber Suit, the goblins from the Bakshi movie look somewhat like the Der Kriegsplieler "Snaga" Lesser Orcs: link |

But the really pressing question is, "Do Dwarf women have beards?" These discussions have been going on since the 70s! Amusing. Paint whatever you like and that looks good to you. (me, my Orcs are heavily Tolkien-oriented, and Elf-opposites, so black skin and burning red eyes.) |

Mine are black skin with gray highlights. Off while teeth and fangs. Red eyes. Like this. link |

I have pre-painted orc miniatures with brown skin. I painted one green to see if it looked better. I think the green-skinned orcs with snouts came from the Hildebrandt brothers. link The Monster Manual in 1st Edition AD&D describes orcs' coloration as "brown or brownish green with bluish sheen – highlights their pinkish snouts and ears. Their bristly hair is brown or black, wometimes with tan patches." MERP describes orc coloring as "Black or grey hair, black or reddish brown eyes, and deep grey or black hides." |
