Those in the thrusting sword arm position, do the arms or weapon come separately or is the figure cast as one piece (except for the shield). Thanks for the info. Cheers, Chris |

Hi Chris, I have the thrusting/Standing unarmoured Caesarian Legionaries and they are all one piece, I don't have the armoured version in this pose but would assume they are the same. |

The copplestone sculpted range had the gladius cast as part of the base which then needed to be snipped off and glued into the figures open hand. |

Interesting….seems the unarmored one might be different from the armoured. Can anyone confirm? Thanks for the input. Cheers, Chris |

armored and unarmored both have open right hands for the gluing addition of the provided gladius |

I don't know about the newer Caesarean legionary "characters " sculpted by Michael Percy…whether the swords are cast on or not |

I have the unarmoured ones and they come with separate swords. Getting the swords into the hands proved pretty difficult. The hands are designed with an open grip to accommodate the swords but the open grip had invariably filled up with stubborn flash. This proved hard to get out and needed a fair amount of filing/gouging to clear enough space for the sword grip to fit in. Even then they don't grip the swords particularly well. I actually found it easier to snip the hilts from the swords, glue them directly to the front of the hand, and then put a small blob of putty on the back of the hand. Unless you're looking from underneath the figure you can't tell the difference. Those with pila are easier, not least because the hand is away from the body so it's easier to get at. The challenge there is finding pila, as Foundry supplied mine with wire spears. I got a pack of cast pila from Aventine and with only a small amount of filing they fit snugly. The "veteran legionary characters" also come with open hand and separate sword. |

I experienced the same issue as Deuce03, (perfect description Deuce). My solution was a bit different though. I replaced the Foundry Gladius with Gripping Beast Gladius. Also used GB Pila. Both the Gladius and Pila are much thinner and fit the Foundry Romans well. |
