Looking to do a refight of Plassey. Wanted a way to have Mir Jaffa Khan defect to Clive's side, but have Clive uncertain about the timing of this defection. Oh, using One Hour War-games as my rule base for the game. Appreciate any suggestions or help. |

There's the Ever Decreasing Number Allowance (EDNA) method – set a base number and then roll a die (d6 or d10) each turn and subtract from the base number. When it reaches or goes below zero, the event happens. If you're using d6s, then the average roll will be 3.5, then if you set say a base number of 35, on average it'll take 10 turns for the event to happen, but it could be 6 if you roll consecutive 6s, or it could be 35 turns if you somehow pull off 35 1s in a row! But you can play with that as you wish, a base number of 15 will give you 4-5 turns till the event happens on average, could be as fast as 3 or take a lot longer if 1s and 2s come up. |

That's probably the best way to do it. Jim |

Another way: roll a D6 on the first turn the force might defect. On a 6, they do. Next turn, on a 5 or 6, the turn after, 4, 5 or 6, etc. If you want to keep them guessing, the force never defects on a roll of 1, no matter what turn it is. |

There's the Ever Decreasing Number Allowance (EDNA) method – set a base number and then roll a die (d6 or d10) each turn and subtract from the base number. When it reaches or goes below zero, the event happens. That's not actually the EDNA method. This is: "Ever Decreasing Number Allocation Each unit has a EDNA rating from 1-5. After it uses that particular weapon/ammo/etc roll a d6. If you roll more than the CURRENT EDNA, it decreases by 1. If the EDNA reaches 0, then the unit is low/out of ammo (depending on the game)." Name may be wrong, method is fine. |

You could use an events threshold. When certain things occur on the battlefield they subtract from a chosen number. If this number is rolled over, the defection occurs. |

Name may be wrong, method is fine. Indeed. |
