Hi all

Happy new year painting pledgers!!!!

Last years end of year report

TMP link

Well the plan this year is simple – To achieve a balance of +500 painted figures by the end of the year. So if I dont but anything all year I have a monthly target of 42 figures.

January has seen me find my motivation and also get my desk organised.

Bought – 0 (yup I resisted January sales etc)

Painted
6mm – 45 (Mahdist camelry – only been sat on my desk for 18months)
28mm – 28 (WWII Polish and Germans)

Monthly profit – +73
Yearly profit – +73

Next Sunday sees the 1st show of the year (I only have a small shopping list – DANGER DANGER!!!!)

Plan for Feb
1) Paint what I buy next week
2) Paint up my SCW 28mm Moroccans

Have fun
:-)

I managed to get paint a on a number of things that have been on my table for a long time, but only finished a handful. Despite feeling pretty good about the painting that I got done, I actually got a little further behind on the official count, as two late Christmas gifts arrived in January.

Received: 12
10x GW Cadian weapon crews and Gaunt's Ghosts.
2x 1/100 Eurofighter Typhoons

Painted: 10
3x Klingon fighters for SFB in miniature
1x 28mm Sci-fi/P-A armored car
3x 15mm WWII French trucks
3x 28mm old GW Imperial guard

-2 overall.

For 2-17, I'd like to be about +400 painted, or roughly even over 2015-2017.

January wasn't as good as hoped but I did get some painting done.

Bought – 29 (nope, I caved to January sales)

Painted – 22

Monthly profit – -7
Yearly profit – -7

On positive note I built a shotgun house from 4ground and played 5 games. I have 12 figures that just need to be based so it's a good start to February.

First, Monkey Hanger, I'm sorry to inform you but your permit allowing you to attend shows has been withdrawn for the entire year. I realize that is highly restrictive but it does mean you'll have more time to achieve your goal.

Now, me, I only plan to buy one set of figures this year, non-domestic bovines, perhaps a whole 96 of them – plus 'casualties'. And I hope to paint a lot of my 15 mm AWI (everything is in 15 mm in my gaming world). If I go wholeheartedly crazy I might get many thousands of figures painted. But I'll happily settle for several hundred (800 at least to finish off all the AWI cavalry figures – horses, mounts, dismounts, horse holders, and casualties).

Now, don't go violating your parole or we'll have to see you hung by your monkey!

So, I guess if I average a minimum of 70 figures per month I can at least get the cavalry done and just a tad bit more. Oh, zero in January means I need to up that a bit to over 72 per month and that barely makes the goal.

Therefore, I hereby declare I shall average no fewer than an average of 72 completely painted and based with textured bases and all seal coated figures per month for the balance of the year. Stretch goal should be two full AWI cavalry regiments per month which would be 80 figures per month and leave me a month to spare. Maybe use that month to paint up those bovine-like critters. And, naturally, no restriction on going above the average goal.

What was it that someone once said about the best laid plans of wee little rodents and men? Oh, and, no, I don't quite know what his monkey is – only that he'll get hung by it if in violation.

So far I'm 0-0. Too much travel in Jan and into Feb to make any dents. However, I will remain true to my pledge of nothing new and shiny this year.

This year I'm going to make some progress! And it's starting off right, at least until something really shiny comes along. (ooh! shiny!)

Anyhow, coming off of last year's +162, we're looking good.

Bought: 0. Nada. Zip. Whoa!

Painted:
212 Finnish FOW infantry, as I finished up a project for my kid. Now he has a FOW army all his own, though of course once we ran a game he needs more so we'll do that.
Also I finished up two projects, those being the World War One Germans and British. I foresee some WWII gaming soon.
German guns and limber sets: 4
British guns and limber sest: 6
British tanks: 10
German 15mm figures: 287
British 15mm figures: 351
I decided at the start of the Pledging years ago that 15mm figures would count for 1/4 of a figure. This works for stuff like WWI Brits and most WWII figures, though if you're doing Napoleonics it really doesn't do justice to the amount of work you put in. Anyhow, after all that painting and basing I'm at…..
+232 for the year!

Chgowiz01 Feb 2017 6:28 a.m. PST

I had so much fun doing an entire year of The Pledge, I'm back for more.

This year, my goal is to get under 100 left in the lead pile. And to buy only the 80 minis I need to to finish my Big Project – all-Ral-Partha armies for Chaos Wars demo games.

January's totals:
Started with 258 in the pile.

Painted: 31
* 25mm Ral Partha Human Troops (30)
* Ral Partha Max Mentalus as Victorian Saint Nicholas

Bought: 0

For month: +31
For year: +31

Good luck everyone!

Vigilant01 Feb 2017 6:40 a.m. PST

1st time committing to the pledge. Aim is to finish more than I buy.

January
bought – nil
Finished – 24 28mm Teutonic knights
35 28mm Skraelings (native Americans to fight my Vikings)
36 28mm Sudan period British infantry.

February will be more of a challenge since I have a large order to pick up from Empress on Sunday.

Since I will be with him on Sunday, Monkey Hanger's small list could get larger!!!

Goal for the year is to paint/or have painted 5-1 over new purchases I need to make a dent in the pile. Due to continuing home renovations and a vacation to Hawaii at the end of the month I did not start the year well. but it should come around rapidly.

Painted – 0
To date -57

Cornelius02 Feb 2017 1:12 p.m. PST

Year-to-date totals:

Off to an auspicious start, as usual…

DOUGKL03 Feb 2017 11:56 a.m. PST

Last year saw my lead pile increase by 89 figures, due to a flurry of purchases at Christmas. I reduced the lead pile in 2015 so I know I can do it. So the goal is a basic net reduction in the lead pile for 2017.
January 2017
Bought 0

Painted 10 rat warriors for our Red Wall games
YTD -10

Syrinx007 Feb 2017 2:03 p.m. PST

Due to RL issues just have not had much painting time nor inclination to make it. Drinking and gaming have gone through the roof though so moral remains high.
