I work on a lot of plastic kits each week (scale modeling, wargaming, model railroading (On30 and N Scale)) for myself and others.

I'm always looking for quality tools that will improve my accuracy and speed in assembly/painting.

I have Sprue Nippers from Tamiya and Xuron and thought that I didn't need any more, but, I had modeling friends tell me that the PBL series was simply the best.

The price was a shock but I took a chance and ordered: I have to say that I was amazed at how fine the blades were and more importantly, how narrow a sprue gate they could fit into and cut cleanly!

If you only build a few plastic kits per year you don't need these but if you are also a scale modeler, model railroader, etc., and work with plastic on a regular basis these will certainly improve the quality of your finished work as they greatly reduce or in most cases eliminate sanding off sprue gate excess from parts.

The price is a shock because it is specially branded for plastic modelers. It is called "price discrimination". They know plastic modelers can afford more so they charge more.

Now for the real shock: Google "beading snips" and you will see price points for various shapes and sizes of the same sort of tools, only starting at $1. USD

Sorry for being a bummer, but I did the same thing. Bought this sort of tool from Micro-Mark and later found it in the beading section of Hobby Lobby for $5 USD to $15 USD, depending upon the size, shape, and quality.

Dale: I have used beading snips; yes, they work but I haven't found any that will cut through gates that are .011/0.28mm in diameter. These will.

I have no buyers regret.
