One of the best accessories for the JR gaming system.

Agreed, I just bought 10 for each side.

Those are cool. Too bad we don't play JR anymore.

Now that is sad. :( My favorite ACW game.

JR3 is my favorite rules for ACW.

i still use the counter that came with the boxes of JRII. I found JRIII unplayable and i was not going to rebase 3 corps of troops

I cut my teeth on JRII. For some reason I felt it played just like combat as described in Freeman's Lee Lieutenants.

I did move to JRIII, in part because the 4 stands made the necessary table 20% bigger in real space.

While I still play JRIII some (I've mainly moved to Carnage & Glory), for some reason I think JRII was better. But looking over the systems I cannot decide what makes me feel that way.

Any thoughts on the distinctions?

All that said, I'm looking at moving down to 3 stands and trying out Across A Deadly Field, again for the space reason and wanting to be able to do the first day of Gettysburg on a 60'x80' table – which will fit very well at 80yds/inch.

JRII was cumbersome to me. JR3 was done to help streamline some of the phases in the game, simplify, is the word I am looking for.

I have the rules for Across a Deadly Field and simply couldn't get into them. It seems more complex than what I am after.

The basing in JR2 and the charge sequence is what finally did it for us. Played several games of JR3 and it seemed like it was design to compete with F&F scale wise. I didn't like the generic artillery in JR3. Many of the issues we had with JR2 wasn't addressed by JR3.

the basing was never that big of poblem for group. we with the avg fig size the made all the same vase size. also i fiend of my and along with in the wrote a MCA for JRII that address hole in the rules
