PDF link Apparently this is real. My first thought was that it was a good parody, like "ISIS declares Fatwa Against Age of Sigmar." But this is on PETA's website…? link |

I love that the models drape themselves in human skin and human skulls but that it is the fur of wolves that gets their panties in a bunch. When I see like this I always eat an extra burger. I guess I'll be stopping at McDonald's today while I wait to get my tire replaced. |

They came for GW figures, and I said nothing, because I was not a GW player. Then they came for my winged hussars. . . |

This is beyond laughable. It's self parody. It's insane. |

And I was expecting that they would object to GW using real sable hair in their paint brushes, but this seems not to be mentioned at all in the letter. (Granted, most of the GW brush range these days seems to have synthetic bristles, but some of their more expensive brushes still use sable hair.) |

I'm the 'Self-Parody' explanation. Activists who are too self-absorbed, self-important to see how ridiculous they look. |

So, they don't want you to have them as pets, so they kill them. That seems logical to me… Pretty soon we will start getting letters because we have models of soldiers riding horses! |

So no more early hussars wearing wolf pelts, or later hussars with fur-trimmed pelisses, and of course those British and French Guard and grenadier regiments with bearskin shakos will have to go, not to mention calfskin packs and all the leatherwork. We can, perhaps, make a sort of last stand at horsehair plumes. Interestingly enough, GW makes figures holding severed human heads, but this evidently is acceptable. |

The letter shows too much knowledge of the WH40K Universe to be a "real" PETA letter. |

Whether or not the 40K letter was real or not, the incident with the girl's dog is yet more evidence of PETA's hypocritical and evil agenda. |

We have PETA here in Las Vegas and they're insane. My own brother is partial to this group's beliefs and he now wants to 'inspect' my figures. |
javelin98 | 30 Jan 2017 11:58 p.m. PST |
Nice to see PETA gaining speed in their race to complete and utter irrelevance. I honestly thought this was an article in The Onion. But no, they're doing a good enough job mocking themselves that they don't need any help. |
Dn Jackson | 31 Jan 2017 12:30 a.m. PST |
Don't take them seriously at your own risk. Ringling Brothers won a suit against them for lying about abuse of circus animals. Yet Ringling is closing and they're still around. |
Puster | 31 Jan 2017 4:12 a.m. PST |
When I look at unethical behaviour of the various factions in 40k, wearing fur would not be my first issue to complain. Well, priorities… Actually I believed this to be a fake to slander Peta when I first heard about it. My new guess is that they are infiltrated :-) |

Seriously? Dear Lord these people need a reality check. I have to say that animal rights activists can off the ideological deep end. On a semi-serious note, why aren't they picking on other media depictions of fur? I'm sure they're are high profile artists and writers who depict fur in their works… Oh wait they would be criticised with attempting to supress freedom of expression (rightly IMO – and just becuase your GW designer doesn't mean your not allowed that right)! It looks real enough, though the whole website looks a bit shonky, and clearly written by someone who knows 40K. My first assumption was that it was a parent having a 'won't somebody think of the children' exposed to images of fur moment. Now, entirely un-seriously, I can't help wondering if a current/former player joined up because of a girl or wanting to meet girls? Becuase that kind of organisation has a gender bias that is the opposite of most gaming groups (at least in the UK)? |
