Always prudent to have good ventilation, but I'm skeptical. I'd bet on home heating before the 3D printer. |

That article raises more questions than provides answers. What exactly are they calling a "3d laser printer"? Most home hobbyist 3d printers are of the extruded plastic variety and no lasers are involved. There is laser sintering to print out of resin. More likely it was a laser cutter, some of them are billed as "printers". this thread link actually has someone who knew the victims responding and will probably provide better answers than the press. Bottom line, condolences to the victims' families. |

Monoxide poisoning was ruled out. Cause as yet unknown. Laser cutters often do produce toxic fumes dependent on the material. 3D printers could, again dependent on the material. Who knows what the filament is made from. Being winter, heater would be #1 suspect. |
