Interesting, thanks. My usual hedge: such figures should never be treated as Gospel. There are perfectly legitimate disputes over who counts as being present at certain battles--Bunker Hill can be especially tricky--and in some cases I'm pretty sure the commanders present didn't know quite how many men they had. But a rough idea is better than no idea at all. Thanks again, Armand. |

For more detail, see "The Toll of Independence: Engagements & Battle Casualties of the Revolution" by Howard H. Peckham. Long OOP, and probably quite expensive when it does turn up, it should be available through public library inter-loan. |
